Yash was born on 8 January 1986 in Bhuvanahalli, Hassan district, Karnataka, India. Initially when he entered into the acting. Then many gave the idea that Naveen’s name was not good and should change the name. For this reason, he changed his name from Naveen to Yash. His father was a bus driver and his family was not supportive of his acting career.
From childhood, he loved watching films and gain an interest in acting. He was not interested in studies. His acting talent was noticed when he performed in a play organised at his school. His performance was appreciated which made him motivated to be an actor.
After completing his schooling at Mahajana High School, Mysore, Karnataka, India. Finally, he decided to be an actor. For this, he wants to leave his studies to be an actor. His parents became sad when he told them about his dream. His parents told him about the importance of studies. Later, he did his college studies at K.L.E College, Bangalore, India.
As being actor, he went to Bangalore. Here, he was new to Bangalore searching for a theatre to improve his acting. He gave auditions in many theatre groups and asked to give work. After some time, he was selected for a benka natak mandali theatre group.

Yash didn’t leave hope and gave auditions for acting. In 2004, he was selected for a television show “Uttarayana”. But, he was not recognised well for acting. Then, he worked in the television serial “Nandagokula” which became a hit.
Due to this, he started getting offers for many tv serials. Then, he worked in many tv serials such as “Silli Lalli”, “Shiva”, “Preeti Illada Mele”, “Male Billu”. In 2007, he became a known tv actor. But, he was not satisfied as he wanted to become a film actor.
In 2007, he did a small role in the film “Jambada Hudugi”. His small role was appreciated by others. As a lead role, he worked in the film “Moggina Manasu” where he did a supporting role. His role was appreciated by the audience.
By his good acting skills, he got a role as the lead actor in the film “Rocky”. This film was a romantic drama-based film released in 2008. Then, he worked in the film “Kallara Santhe”, “Gokula” in 2009. But, these films were not much successful.
Rocky worked in his superhit film “modal sal” in 2010. This was a romantic film where he played the role of Kartik. In 2011, he worked in the film “Rajadhani” which was a flop. He worked in a comedy-drama film “Kirataka” which was loved by the public.
At starting, he had most flop films but his acting talent was appreciated by film-makers. This made him get offers for many films. In 2012, he worked in the film “Drama” which was a hit at the box office. Later, he worked in the film “Googly” which was a blockbuster in 2013. This film became the biggest hit in the Kannada film industry.
