After completing his schooling at the oriental seminary. He completed his BSc studies at scottish church college, Kolkata. Then, he took an acting degree from the Film and television institute of India, Pune.
Before coming to bollywood, he was naxalite. He started his career in acting from the bollywood film “Mrigayaa” in 1976. This film became successful in the box office. He was awarded by the national award. It was not easy for him to build a good name in the film industry.
At that time, he didn’t have any work and had struggled a lot. He has also been the assistant of Helen Juhi. Then, he worked in the film “Do Anjaane”, “Phool khile hain gulshan gulshan”, “Surakshaa”, “hum paanch”, “wardat” and etc.
In 1979, he worked in the film “Surakshaa”. But, this film didn’t make him that much popular to get many works in the industry. Even, the film “Taraana” was praised this year only.
