Rajkumar Rao was born on 31 August 1984 in prem nagar, Gurgaon, India. He belonged to a middle class family. In his family, everyone loved watching films especially Sunday. Due to this, he become interested in acting. He used to mimic the voice of various actors of Bollywood actors.
In the starting, he did his school studies from Blue Bells Model Sr. Sec. School. When he reached 10 class and decided to make a career in acting. He was also active in participating in programs in his school days. At that time, he was greatly inspired by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan.
After completing his schooling at S.N Sidheshwar Senior, Sec Public School, Gurgaon. He did his art studies at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, New Delhi. For improving his acting, he also joined theatre from Kshitij Repertory and Shri Ram Centre in Delhi.
For making things happen, he daily took the bus from Gurgaon to reach Delhi. In Delhi, he studied in the college. After college was over till evenings. Then, he goes to the theatre for learning acting. This way, he reached late home between 11 pm to 12 am.
After completing his college studies, he learned acting from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Maharashtra, India. For making his dream come true, he shifted to Mumbai. He didn’t find any role for acting and failed to get work for a long time. But, he never loosed hope and struggled for being an actor.
In 2010, he got a role as a news reader in the Bollywood film “Rann”. After this movie, he saw dibakar banerjee advertisement as he needed a new actor. Rajkumar Rao went for this audition and got selected. This movie was “Love Sex and Dokha” which was released in 2010. People loved the acting which he did in the movie. Then, he got the opportunity to work in “Ragini MMS”, “Gangs of Wasseypur 2”, “Talaash”, “Kai Po Che, “Shahid Queen”, “City Lights”, “Aligarh”, “Trapped etc.
