Jyothi Yarraji was born in 28 August, 1999 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. From childhood, her parent’s were very supportive of his sports career. She comes from a modest background. Her father Surya narayana is a security guard.
From Class 10th, she mainly focused in training herself for the athelete. Her physical teacher recognised his skills as a player motivating to practice in hurdles. She won a gold medal in the Andhra Pradesh Inter district hurdle meet in 2015. Later, she was failed to get selected for the Indian Under-18 Championships in 100 metre hurdles race which was held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.
Under the Guidance of Coach N Ramesh, she was being trained in SAI Centre in Hyderabad. She secured sixth position in Inter-State Championship for 100 metre hurdles race Hyderabad, Telangana, India in 2016. Then, she secured 4th place in the Indian U20 Championship for 100 metre hurdles race which was held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. This way, she worked hard to make himself stronger for competing with the other’s in the sports.
Jyothi Yarraji appear in the summer world university games. She won brown medal for 100 m hurdles 2021 Chengdu. Then, she represented for commonwealth games in 2022. She hold the record for the fastest 100 meter hurdles by an Indian woman. Where, she scored with 13.23 seconds breaking the previous record set by Anuradha biswal in 2002.
She was admired spirit legend Hussain bolt and Olympic champion neeraj chopra debuting internationally at a meet in Limassol Cyprus in 2022. In 2023, she continued her winning streak both nationally and internationally. She won the silver in the 60 meter hurdles at Asian indoor athletics championship in Nur sultan, Astana. Where, she sets a national record with a time of 8.13 seconds.
But, she achieved her greatest feat at the recently conducted asian athletics championships in Bangkok. She won gold for 100 meter hurdles and silver in the women’s 200 meter with a personal best time in Asian athletics championships in 2023. she won gold medal in the 37th National Games on 30th October, 2023 which was held in Goa, India. Later, she competed in many competitions making proud for India.
