Badshah was born on 19 November 1985 in Delhi, India. His real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia. He belonged to a Punjabi family. His father belonged to Haryana and his mother was from Punjab. He was a good student at studies having much interest in mathematics.
After completing his schooling at Bal Bharati School, Pitampura, New Delhi, India. He dreamt of clearing upsc exams in school days. But things changed with time and wanted to be a rapper. So, he participated in music competitions organised at school.
During the initial days, no one believed in him when he told about his dream. He had been part of his school singing group. He also told to his teacher that he would become a rapper. But, the teacher was not serious about his dream.
At starting, his parents were not knowing what is rapping. It became challenging for Badshah to convince his dream. On the other side, his parents wanted him to be an engineer. For this reason, he did civil engineering at Punjab engineering college, Chandigarh, Punjab, India.
Badshah living in Punjab for college studies. He got introduced to Punjabi music and become interested in rapping. He started writing and sang rap. He did his first rap song “Main Apko Hara dunga” in college to motivate a sports team. After completing his college studies, he did a job. But left the job to fully focus on rap as he wanted to become a rapper.
At that time, Badshah also had a girlfriend with whom he had a serious relationship. Along with his parents, Badshah’s girlfriend also thought that there is no future in rapping. His girlfriend told Badshah to leave the rapping to secure their Relationship. One day, His girlfriend told him to select one thing as his passion or his girlfriend. Then, Badshah selected his passion as being passionate about rapping. Due to this, Badshah and his girlfriend’s relationship ended.
After all this, Badshah mainly focused on rapping. He started doing small rap songs and got introduced to yo yo honey singh. After getting impressed by Badshah rap. Yo yo honey singh made him a member of hip hop band “Mafia Mundeer” in 2006. Earlier, his stage name was Cool Equal but changed it to Badshah. As Badshah was a big fan of Shahrukh Khan. He got the idea for his stage name from the Shahrukh Khan film “Baadshah” in 1999.
Badshah worked with yo yo honey Singh for a long time. But, he didn’t get identified as a rapper by the audience much. In 2011, he along with yo yo honey singh made the song “get up jawani”. This song became a hit but Badshah didn’t get much known to others. In the Speed Punjabi channel, he was not credited for the song. So, he cleared that he would not work with yo yo honey singh.
This was the time when yo yo honey Singh ruled the rapping industry. Badshah didn’t have much work but he never loosed hope. He struggled hard and believed in his talent. Badshah released a Haryanvi song “Kar gyi chull” which was a successful song. His song was taken for the film “Kapoor and Sons” in 2016.
In 2012, he got an opportunity to work with Indeep bakshi on a song “Saturday Saturday”. This song was taken for the Bollywood film “Humpty Sharma ki Dhulhani” which was released on 11 July 2014. Later, he worked with Diljit Dosanjh on the song “Proper Patola” which was a hit.
In 2015, he made the song “Aaj raat ka scene” for the Bollywood film “Jazbaa”. This became a controversial song but was a hit. He worked along with Aastha Gill in the song “Dj Waley Babu” released on 16 July 2015. This was the turning point of his career and made him well-recognised around as a popular rapper.
Badshah songs started being played at the parties. He started releasing many hit songs such as “lover boy”, “Move your body”, “Mercy”, “Heartless”, “Nain”, “She move it like”, “Paagal”, “Genda Phool”, “Paani Paani”, Baawala”, “Bachpan ka Pyaar” and many more etc. Later, He got opportunities to work in television shows as a judge for the Indian reality show “MTV Hustle”.
